You know how I love dye (find more evidence here, here, here, or here) . You know how I love glitter. You know how I love DIY projects. So this my friends, was so much fun to create! Well, actually I didn't think I knew what I was getting myself into, making 135 rainbow noodle necklace kits (wowza say that ten times fast) for a Fairy Bird reading party this weekend! Oh, it's been back aching, finger dying, noodle counting fun! :-)
Honestly though, this is SUCH A FUN project to do...especially for St.Patricks Day this Monday! I've seen these necklaces done before, but I have never seen them done with glitter and "sparkle puffs" (as my little Sage so eloquently calls them). May I just add, that these two secret ingredients make all the difference!
What you need:
-Rigatoni
-Rubbing Alcohol-freezer bags (or since I was doing a HUGE amount I used trash bags)
-yarn
-dye
***if you want to add glitter and sparkle puffs than you can get that an any craft store!
Directions:
-Divide noodles into however many colors of dye you have
-place them in separate bags and pour about 2 TBS of rubbing alcohol over noodles
-pour dye over noodles, and move them around so the color is evenly distributed
***if using glitter sprinkle it on the noodles while they're wet, and move around to distribute evenly
-let them sit for about 2-3 hours, or overnight if you really want the dye to soak in
-cover cookie sheets with wax paper and pour noodles into each sheet
-let the noodles dry in the sun for about 6-7 hours (I let my dry all day)
***if you really want to get creative, once they're dry, I painted some with glue and sprinkled more glitter on certain ones.
-Now you're ready to string 'em!
