Bite size beauty...

Lately, my lips have been so dry after I wear my MAC lipstick. Not sure if it's that or just the weather... but I feel like it makes my lips look more like they are in desperate need of vaseline afterwards. I always put chapstick on first and than put on my lipstick. But, that doesn't seem to help much! Slightly annoying.

So, I went on a search. I wanted a lipstick that went on smooth, and didn't dry my pucker right on out :-).  I came upon these luminous creme lipsticks and LOVE them. The other great thing is they come in mini size (with a little tin). And, lets be honest, everything is cuter when it's in a mini size right!? ;-)

my mom always taught me, that when you're looking for a lipstick and don't want to apply fifty different kinds...just do a little test on the inside of your wrist. It's a great way to see how the color will look on your skin tone. She's just full of really valuable tips :-) ha
Here are my favorite colors...

Shining Some Light...

This last week we got ceiling lights/fans put into our upstairs bedrooms. Who would have thought such a thing would make me so over the moon happy?! I never realized how much of a difference ceiling lights can make in any room! Don't get me wrong, I love lamps; but there is just something about ceiling lights that make any space feel so much...well brighter! Trying to figure out which ones to get was practically impossible (remember--I'm super indecisive about these sort of things?!) And for some reason I was always drawn to the crystal chandelier ones, which are way to fancy for my upstairs ha.

I mean, look at these beauties from Mail Order Lamps--how could you not be drawn to them?! Who knows maybe someday, for my future bathroom or office, I'll splurge on crystal adorned lighting! :-)

Whitney's Home

So remember how exactly two weeks ago I decided to pack a little duffle and drive up to Northern Cali. to visit my sister Whit, her hubby and their three munchkins?! Well, when I walked into their home it was like a breath of fresh air! I just wanted to crawl up on their linen sofa and stay a while (so I did just that ha). They had fixed up the mantle piece, the stairway, her dining room and few other places since I had last visited. So I of course had to take a gander at all these new home improvements!

You see, Whitney has an eye for beautiful things and Spencer has this ridiculously good talent of making it come to life (through his self taught skills of woodwork...his hobby is surely paying off!!!)

I realized, that I am mostly drawn to homes where the color palette is almost serene. Where it's beautifully neutral, fresh and clean. That is exactly how I'd describe Whits home; clean and fresh with sophisticated pops of color. Here are some photos she took of her adorable casa. I just couldn't wait to share them with you all (oh and that little man in the last few pictures is my nephew...really doesn't get much cuter than that I tell ya')! Enjoy the eye candy...I know I sure did!

My Dreamland

So I made this promise with Restoration Hardware, that if I publicly confess my love for it then they'll come in and design my whole house for free!!! Yep, thats me, in dreamland!
A lady can dream can't she?
I will say though, that R.H. is my ultimate furniture retreat.
I received the baby catalog...(feast your eyes HERE) full of SO many beautiful things.
So much eye candy and pure inspiration...yes, ideas galore! Here are some of my absolute favorites:
***Now I know this is a very neutral color pallet but it is so very soothing isn't it?!***
The next two pictures have a grey square next to an item...the first is a crown art piece that you can personalize, how cute is that?! I always think to myself "oh I could totally do that myself"! Then again, sometimes it would be better to just buy it...wouldn't you agree?
And the second grey box is next to vintage prop plane art pieces...if I ever have a little boy...this will definitely be apart of his cozy room (plus I love the vintage look!)
I like to rip out pages in catalogs that I love. I keep them in a nice "things for my future home" binder.

So I tore this page out (image below) which shows 15 different color variations on thread. I stuck the ripped page on my fridge and took a picture to share with you... :-)
I made a small pallet so you could see the "general" color of each swatch. I love these colors together!

Top from left to rightwhite, dove, bisque, toast, khaki, petal, dusty pink, lavender
Bottom from left to right: grey, chocolate, cloud, marine, navy, silver sage, eucalyptus

Find all Restoration Hardware paint HERE.
confession: I would paint every wall in my house every shade they have. I love it that much...but I'm not that crazy! :-)
