Spotlight: Carly's Choices

Hey there friends! Happy Monday! I am so excited to share some great things with you this week....Would you like to see some fun ways to incorporate colors you love in several different areas/projects?!

My friend Carly over at Playful Pickles is one of the most creative people I know. I asked her to share a few things on this subject...she has such a great eye for what looks good together. Here is what she had to say...(and may I just add I LOVE love Coral...but that will be for another post!)

"Color inspiration is everywhere - especially in nature. I love fall time so much because of the changing colors in the trees, namely the golden yellow/mustard hue. Mustard is such a popular color these days in everything from fashion, decorating, and graphic design. A great way to find inspiration for any specific hue, try simply going to a site like pinterest.com and type "mustard" or the desired color in the search field.

One of my favorite images found via pinterest using this method is this lovely image.

What a lovely color combo! Golden yellow/mustard and pink/coral. If you see a color scheme that jumps out at you, try incorporating it into other areas of design. You can even create a custom color palette from the image to print and keep handy.

If you don't have photoshop, simply visit the website colorhunter.com and it will generate it for you! Here's an example of using this color scheme to find inspiration for and plan a party.

Or, how about in graphic design? I find the best way to get your design to stand out from the rest is to use colors that pop. Here is an example of a holiday card design using this fun color scheme.

Your card will be sure to stand out from the others simply by the colors you choose (these colors compared to the traditional red, green, gold, silver, etc.) And speaking of holiday cards, I have been planning my daughter's photo-worthy outfit for our holiday card this year. Here is a way to incorporate the color scheme once more, this time in fashion.

I made the mustard linen dress, and after seeing my inspiration photo knew I wanted to find some pinky/coral tights. What a fun little outfit she'll have to wear!

Thank you Carly, for your fantastic inspiration!!! Such great colors for this upcoming season!
