COLOR TWISTER...and my new years resolution(s)

Happy Happy Friday to you all! This week has been a long one...with kiddies that can't seem to shake this miserable cold and me feeling a little, well, slightly "pee-em-ess-ey" lets just say I am sure glad it's the weekend! :-)

Did you set a new years resolution this year? I know that some people don't do new years resolutions, because they are scared of failing. However, I tend to feel like a failure if I don't set some sort of goals for the new year. Whether I achieve them or not, I still like to set them---there are a few things I have learned about New Years Resolutions...
1. Make them realistic
2. Don't make too many
3. Be specific about time frames (run a half marathon this spring...paint a new canvas for mom's bday in July...read a new book every month...)
4. Don't be so hard on yourself...the fact that you are setting goals and have new things in mind is a step forward in the first place...right?!
5. They don't have to be HUGE...it's "through small and simple things that great things come to pass"

I have two resolutions this year...TO SIMPLIFY and COMPLAIN LESS (complaining is an ugly way of ingratitude).

I will never forget what my mom said to me last year when I was planning my little sisters wedding shower, "what happened to the days when you invited a few women over, you all sat around, chatted, and than had a piece of cake and that was that". Less frills and more basics...smaller steps and less of them; more chatting and doing instead of planning and fretting. It's going to be a good year all about the simple things!

Speaking of which, I did this color twister with my girls the other day and I got all giddy with nostalgia. This was one of my favorite things to do when I was little, and now I'm doing it with my kids?! I love it, I love it!

  3. I agree with your mom. My baby shower was 15 years ago. We had lunch and opened gifts. When did every party turn into such an ordeal?? I love the spin art photos
