Lollipop Lovin'

Did you know that this Friday is National Lollipop Day?! I have no idea why we celebrate this...but I'm sure glad there's one day out of the year where you can go to See's candy and get a free lollipop! I mean c'mon, who wouldn't want a free butterscotch lolly?!

So to celebrate this momentous occasion, I thought I'd share a fun lollipop DIY tutorial! I used taffy's to create these round bursts of color...and it worked like magic! I actually was just going to go to this little boutique and buy lollipops that looked similar to these, but they were $7 each and I needed to buy 10 of them (since that's how many kids I teach in my church class)--um no thanks! So I figured, "hey I'll just make them!"...and it's a good thing because I saved myself quite a few bucks!
Here is the cast of characters: Laffy Taffy, wax paper, and skewers...pretty simply 'ey?!
Take your taffy(s) and roll them like this:
Next, line up however many colors you'd like...
and twist it so the colors start forming a design (I thought this part was so neat!)
Then, coil it into a circle creating a taffy lollipop!
and Now add that skewer to make them look like the real deal!
Put them in the freezer for about an hour to harden.
Lastly, wrap with ribbon and cellophane (gotta make them look presentable right?! *wink wink)
And here ya have the finished product--
Now you have a grand excuse to give out and/or eat a few homemade lollipops this Friday!
