Special Spotlight: Rachel's Butterflies

You know those types of people, who you don't know...but you wish you did! Well that was me...with Rachel. I would read her lovely blog and think "we could be great friends". So when I  emailed her and asked her if she would like to be a special guest on my blog...and she happily obliged...I got excited!

"I have an issue with color : I AM ADDICTED. I am all about color and prints. They catch my eye and for the life of me, I can't get myself to purchase neutral, earth stones or anything solid when it comes to my wardrobe. It's a huge issue. If you look at my closet, its an explosion of colors and prints. Im just so complicated. If I ever feel like being plain for a day, I physically can't, because I don't own anything plain; so I have to borrow out of my roommates closet instead. Im telling you, it ain't a good thing."

She is studying Fine Arts with an emphasis in Drawing and Painting. For one of her projects she did this BEAUTIFUL Butterfly painting...and when I saw it my jaw dropped! How beautiful all these colors? Oh my gosh. I love it...how could you not?! I asked Rachel to send me a little something about the artwork and this is a small blurb about it:

"The color takes place in the detail of the butterflies. When I googled images of butterflies, every image showed the layout of even rows of the insects. I loved it ; it gave the composition a very harmonious feel so I went with it. I used that as inspiration, and tweaked some of the colors and substituted others for some of my favorite tubes of paint. The painting had taken me longer than expected. But the outcome was just what I had envisioned."

So here you have it my friends...Rachels Butterfly Painting.
